This letter was sent to the Waterloo Regional Council in response to the proposed LRT system connecting Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge.
Dear Waterloo Regional Council,
Well, here she is… Yes, she is sparkly, gold and analog. 35 mm is back! Oh, and there’s no viewfinder. And it’s a fisheye lens. And it cost < $30. Picked it up in Chicago and carried it around for a few days while traveling. Here is what happened: (note, we used some pretty click C-41 yellow/red tinted film – NO PHOTOSHOPPING OF ANY OF THESE).
It’s been a fun experience going back to my roots and doing some analog photography. No second chances since each shot you take uses up a frame of film. Such a huge change from my patterns, but I hope it has a positive influence on my digital photography as well (no more shooting 30 of the same picture just to hope for one good one!)

The factory was used for decades manufacturing rubber compounds and materials but the owners have now applied for a permit to tear the factory down. As we move from a manufacturing age, through the information age into the creative age, factories like this (in Kitchener Waterloo especially) are becoming a rare thing. Had a blast photographing it and even more fun in post processing doing a lot of HDR work with the images.

I choose to live in Waterloo Region. I don’t live here just because my job is here. I don’t live here just because my family is from Waterloo. I live here because I see the way our region is growing and evolving and I want to be a part of it.
Waterloo Region has the potential to become one of the greatest places in the world to work, play and live. But, we are not quite there yet.
