My New Camera!!! | Ramy Nassar

My New Camera!!!

Well, here she is… Yes, she is sparkly, gold and analog. 35 mm is back! Oh, and there’s no viewfinder. And it’s a fisheye lens. And it cost < $30. Picked it up in Chicago and carried it around for a few days while traveling. Here is what happened: (note, we used some pretty click C-41 yellow/red tinted film – NO PHOTOSHOPPING OF ANY OF THESE).

It’s been a fun experience going back to my roots and doing some analog photography. No second chances since each shot you take uses up a frame of film. Such a huge change from my patterns, but I hope it has a positive influence on my digital photography as well (no more shooting 30 of the same picture just to hope for one good one!)

Yes, very sparkly, I know.

Park in Chicago…

One of only nine B’Hai temples in the world. A very interesting religion, and an incredibly beautiful building!

Probably my favorite one. Let me just remind you. No viewfinder (just hold it up, snap and hope for the best). No instant review. No photoshop to fix it up afterwards. 99% luck, 1% skill 😉  Don’t even remember taking this one…

Well, those are some of the highlights of my adventure in analog, fisheye photography! Going to hit up Bent’s today to get a few more rolls of film and continue the experiment in KW over the weekend as part of a project I am doing for Openfile WR documenting all of the public art in KW!
